The Seven Grandfather teachings are a set of Anishinaabe guiding principles that help people respect others and lead a good life in peace and without conflict.

THE ANIMALS

that represent the 7 Grandfather Teachings

The animals represent each teaching based on their way of life and how they interact with the animals around them. We can apply their way of life, to our own.

The Eagle

You are the eagle!

Like the eagle, you have both a loving and a peaceful side. You understand the value of relationships and often show admiration and tenderness towards the people who you truly love. You are a dedicated friend, sibling, parent, or teacher. While you have strength, you also know the importance of kindness and tenderness.

Love is one of the 7 Grandfather Teachings. To love means to care for yourself and for others. The teaching of love allows us to know peace and understand the balance of life.

Love is represented by the eagle because he has the strength to carry all the teachings. The eagle has the ability to fly highest and closest to the Creator. Eagles are loving parents and teachers and sacred protectors and guides. Love can be found in the core of all teachings.

Like the eagle, you know what it means to love unconditionally. You are strong and wise, but patient and kind, as well. In the same way the eagle embraces all teachings, you know the importance of balance in all things. If you can use that balance to fully embrace the power of love, you can experience true peace and love for yourself. Your challenge is to view your inner-self with the perspective of all teachings!
