As a child my father’s farm and the Hiawatha reserve were adjoined,. beautiful area overlooking Rice Lake….the most I remember growing up was their hunting, families were very connected, and just their pride in caring for their community….and a small white church that most attended including my sister and I….my brother-in-law was native who unfortunately passed with cancer at a very young age….his ashes were spread by his sons in northern Saskatchewan….Bill said “when you hear the geese in the spring, think of me”, which to this day I do….
